Easy Homemade Marinara Sauce
In a food processor place Italian tomatoes, tomato paste, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth.
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onions and sauté until softened and translucent, 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Add the blended tomato sauce, white wine and bay leaf.
Bring the sauce to a rapid simmer, and then lower the heat a gentle simmer. Continue simmering until the sauce is slightly reduced and thickened, about 20-25 minutes.
Remove bay leaf. Stir in basil.
Serve the sauce immediately over pasta with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Leftovers will keep refrigerated for about a week or can be frozen for up to 3 months.
