Granola bars, breakfast bars, cereal bars, snack bars, regardless of what you call them, they can be a wholesome food for busy kids and moms on the go.
Unfortunately, most store-bought granola bars are high in sugar, contain unhealthy fats and oils, and are packed full of artificial, overly processed ingredients.
Homemade granola bars are simple to make with whole real-food ingredients. Homemade granola can be a healthy and delicious treat.
Our healthy homemade granola bar recipe uses oats and brown rice flour; whole grain sources of fiber. As well as, ground flaxseed and chia seeds; super seeds packed with omega-3s and fiber. The sweetness in this recipe comes from honey and vanilla instead of refined sugar.
These are healthy granola bars your kids will love and you can feel good about serving.
Here are some variations to make nut free or dairy free:
Nut free: To omit peanut butter, use ½ coconut oil or 1 cup butter
To lessen butter, I have substituted applesauce or mashed banana.
